Title: Web/ Graphic Designer
Department: Marketing
Reports to: Adam Provost
The Web Designer / Graphic Designer is responsible for creation, delivery and execution of web/collateral creative that represents PA Sportsticker’s brands and clients in a superior and pleasing way. Collaborate with the other team members on best practices and execution of designs across multiple platforms. Maintains and provides on going design of website, promotions, and sales collateral
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge/expert of Adobe Software: Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
- Proficient with a thorough understanding of Dreamweaver and HTML
- Familiar with current trends in web development: AJAX, web standards, etc
- Experience with using video in flash development
- Experienced HTML and CSS programmer
- Experienced in Flash Action Scripting & ideally up to speed on CS3 action script
- Advanced knowledge of web best practices for efficiency of web images and file size
- Strong attention to detail
- Expert with a variety of the design concepts, practices, and procedures
- Able to take printed advertising materials and adapt for web applications in a way consistent with a premium brand and vice versa with print collateral
- Highly creative and motivated to produce superior content
- Skilled at thinking creatively outside the box
- Self starter that takes the initiative to start and complete assignment without direct supervision
Education and/or Experience:
- 2-3 yrs experience developing consumer visible web sites
- A Sports background is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in a design-related field or equivalent work experience preferred
- Ability to present a body of work preferably an online portfolio that proves their understanding of interface design, rich media design, sales collateral and multi-channel design
Freelance Co-ordinator
Responsibilities: Manage network of freelance journalists and reporters covering professional and collegiate sporting events throughout North America.
Specific Duties:
n secure credentials from governing bodies and teams for all events that need to be staffed
n review/create freelancer schedules to ensure all events are covered
n maintain updated contact information for all freelancers
n work with finance department to ensure monthly payment of freelancers
n replace existing freelanced, find replacements or new freelanced upon request of Director, Data Collection and Director, Editorial Operations
n liaison with NCAA SIDs and PR officials from second tier sports to arrange coverage of events not staffed directly
Requirements:
n college degree preferred
n experience overseeing large staff or coordinating large events
n basic knowledge of sports leagues, teams and seasons
n candidate must be detail oriented with good problem-solving ability
n accessible during “off” hours
